Q: How to get a VPN if I'm already in China?

I just moved to China and found out that Netflix doesn't work here, so  I need a VPN. But all the search results for VPN are blocked. So...?

And can anyone recommend me a good one? I specifically need it to run Netflix quickly. (Daredevil season 2 baby).

You may have to wait a week or so. Most VPNs are down whilst they are having a big government meeting.

As soon as you open Western news website or Yahoo-gle, VNP advert is displayed on the top of the page.

The Guardian:

Download VPN for ChinaUnblock any Site. Try it Risk Free. 100% Secure. High Speed Guaranteed!

I'm not sure, if it works.

I would, but torrents don't seem to work at my place. They load up fine, but are always stuck at 0%.

They work at a cafe around the corner though... Not sure why. Very slow though.

If they work at a cafe, but not on yours, then your computer is the problem. Go do some searches on the net and troubleshoot.

go to download.com and download "utorrent"

then go get your daredevil freak on here

welcome to china where copyright protection is a joke passed when you eat too many beans and drink to much flat beer, also the torrent sites are actually good for downloading vpn software as well.

ambivalentmace:

forgot something, there are china torrent sites that work faster but i dont know the names, will check and get back to ya.

when you use download.com , would recommend a torrent search site for all torrents "bit che" works very well.

Osmosis.

Well, that only works if you have an iPhone/MacBook.

Like people have already said - most VPN's are down right now because this so called meeting in Beijing, mine is not worked just over a week now. Though downloading via torrent is your best option, streaming here is slow unless you have a mega fast connection which is almost near impossible in China.

Wait, so the govt usually allows VPNs?

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
