the spouse visa renews every year for 400 rmb, it's only good while married to you, so if you get killed in taxi or divorce his ass, he has to leave, even if you switch to the permanent spouse visa after 5 years of marriage, same rules, no forever without you babe, the permanent one is a bad deal for travel, have to live in china 9 months out of every year or lose the permanent visa, after you spend the time and money of getting the damn thing.
China sucks in the foreign policy department...

Being honest with you... marrying a Chinese woman in terms of visa privileges is overall useless. The husband can still not:
- work legally in China (WTF?)
- live permanently in China (nope, has to basically live on a multiple entry tourist visa)
- allowed to own property in China (I guess maybe Shanghai only)
- in no way speeds up anything in terms of banking, drivers license or whatever
- no medical care from the government...
It is ridiculous, and one of the single biggest reasons why China will never live up to developed countries.

"I like my country" because cheap abundant labor does make it easy to walk on the little people, the problem is when someone is walking all over you and you don't even know it. yes there are some benefits to living in the China Mafia Pyramid, unless you are on the bottom holding everything up.

But living permanently in China is pretty much insane when you have the choice as a foreigner. Chinese are very narrow sighted from my experience and say things like:
- oh but foreigners are treated special everywhere they go!
We get lots of annoying stares, comments and people constantly trying to rip us off... not a fair trade for a few free dinners in my opinion.
- oh but foreigners can earn lots of money!
Compared to locals that settle for low quality good, yes. But to buy goods at a quality we are used to back home (Westerners anyway) then it is actually not that great of money. And again, everyone is trying to cheat us constantly. On top of that, banks make it amazingly more and more difficult to transfer funds OUT of the country.

Well, that is true. But most of them are just looking for a good time or to rip you off. When you have a wife, that part of China quickly loses its luster.
