Q: How to handle the life with a Chinese paid but a foreign spending habit?
Well,as I had been dating western guys.So naturally,I have developed a foreign lifestye unconsciously. Sometimes I am just bored with Chinese life and food. I like hanging out in diffrent foreign bars and resturants in the French concession. Well,those places are pricy without a question,it does cost me a lot to maintain this life style.
How to handle it? Hahaha. I even developed a foreign stomach. I miss foreign food time to time. When I was dating my western ex,they often paid for me to live with that life but now I have to pay myself.
Newsflash: you're not special. People throughout history from all over the world have wanted to live beyond their means. So if you have income X and want lifestyle Y, you have a few options:
1. Find a better paying job
2. Work more overtime hours
3. Find a second job
4. Go into debt
5. Sell your ass
6. Move to a cheaper place
7. Steal
8.Make some good investments
9. Sell drugs
10. Find a partner with more money than you

learn how to cook western food. google, youtbue or whatever chinese counterpart they have.
This is how I think you should do it.....
Drink Chinese beer bought from the small shop under your building. If you can get Japanese beer, drink that. Get a bottle of dry white wine as a weekend treat. Cook yourself...no oil, salt or msg. Listen to music such as Paul Kelly, Talking Heads, Tina Arena, U2, The Decemberists, Greta Bradman, Smashing Pumpkins, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan. Loud is usually better. Get a trustworthy friend in from time to time to share the experience with. Shower often. It's easily done on a Chinese salary and works fine for me.

I do agree with you about the shaving thing. I did just that about an hour ago as wife will be home for her afternoon delight shortly. It's the least I can do.

What is "foreign spending habit" Viki? It sounds like another typical Chinese stereotype particularly when you consider many Chinese now spend more on luxury goods than a good deal of expats.
I suggest that your "western spending habit" can more accurately be described as your atypical modern Chinese characteristics coming to the fore.
I'm pretty sure Ethiopian spending habits are less than that of Chinese.
You said Foreign with no specification, Ethiopia is a foreign country.
