The hard part isn't the tough tough legal issue. The tough tough issue is letting the girl know that foreigners aren't ATMs. They are human just like anyone else on earth.

sevenyan:

That's so true! ! But technically ,how do you know whether your boy friend is AIDS or not  as a Chinese girl ?

help me out !

Well, this is easy. Every foreigner has to go through a medical check up that includes HIV tests. It will be shown in his medical report card. If he is positive, he will be asked to leave China. So, rest easy, ALL foreigners are HIV free. Don't know about ALL Chinese girls though.

It's easy.

You just need a passport, a valid visa, and a translated " certificate of no impediment".

The book cost nine RMB. You need to go to the capital of her provence to get it.

ou812:

How does your book only cost 9 rmb? That is the Chinese rate. My book was around 450 rmb in Wuhan.

I think it must vary by province.....was talking to a friend the other day who told me where he got married it was 9rmb for locals and an extra 400 rmb if one of them was a foriegner.

Yup. It cost nine RMB.... and the wife paid because they wanted a Chinese card... cash not accepted.

I have an Austrian friend who married a Chinese national in Guanxi last month. That cost nine RMB too.

I do remember when we got married they tried to pile on extras. A photo album and video come to mind. The wife said no because too expensive.

Did you get a photo album OU812?

It's incredibly easy. Easier than most places on Earth.

However, find a girl worthy of marriage is harder than surviving a bullet to the head. Come to think of it, if you married an easy girl who used you for money, just hope she gives you a bullet to the head.

Thankfully I married a sane girl who doesn't care about money. <3 you, wifey

in that case, you got to sharpen your eyes , i guess:)!

In Jiangsu, it was a very easy and clear process. Me, I had to provide a paper from my country showing I was not married yet. My wife had to bring her hukou. And then we went to a special office for marrying foreigners, filled a form, got a small ceremony, and done, we were married. Checkout the blog sarajaaksola.com for an other example (Guanzhou), was simple too. If you want the exact detail of the steps to get the papers done, I can give you a link to my wife's blog, who explain all the steps, with pictures of the papers.

sevenyan:

That's really helpful ! Thank you ! Yes, can I have your wife' blog link ?

No problems, here you go. Note that for your boyfriend's papers, it can be different, it depends on his own country. Me, I'm French, which makes it really easy.

Getting that small red book is pretty easy, realizing what you've done when the mother in law issues starts showing up probably takes a lifetime of therapy or at least some over the counter xanax in the morning coffee.

The "difficult" part is to get a certificate of marriageability from your home country, proving you are single.

Our local marriage office had a pamphlet that described the requirements. You could need to go get your passport translated etc, you need pictures taken (here it MUST be red background) you need the Chinese partners hukou.

why is it so easy for you?

I have to translate all her documents, send to my homecountry get a certificate translate it back to chinese and then we can marry-.-

all in all cost me over 5000 rmb

Scandinavian:

so Germany needs to know who you are marrying before they will send you a piece of paper saying you've never been married before ? Are you sure you didn't ask "your people" to get the marriage registered in Germany too, that would be another issue altoghether. (I for instance spent almost 20 minutes doing so last summer so my  governmant knows I am married for future reference in getter her a residence permit in the free world)

the only difference in work is if i marry in germany is that i dont need to translate my marriage paper back to chinese, but then i cant even register my marriage in china...

so yeah we gonna marry in summer in germany but it is really annoying

now my gf tried to get a notarized copy of her passport (the first page). they refused to do it because they cant do only one page, they wanna notarize the whole passport (all pages, even empty ones) because you pay per paper.

Man the chinese are so fucking greedy. now we cant get our papers done, fucking bitches here

My American friend married a Chinese guy and they had absolutely no problem. Had to get a piece of paper from the American embassy saying she wasnt already married, they went to where his Hukou was, walked into a room. Had some pictures taken and boom. Married.

I went to the Dept of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Brisbane to get a certificate that said they had no record I had married since my divorce, ten years previously.  I paid about $40 for that.

Then I took it to the Chinese Embassy and they told me it didn't look impressive enough so I had to take it to the Dept of Foreign Affairs & Trade.  I paid about $40 for that one too.  Then I took it back to the Chinese Embassy and they put the big red stamp on it.  Paid about $40 for that.

Then I/we went to a small town in Xinjiang who were licensed to marry foreigners, wife with her Hukou, and got dicked around for a day and a half before the girl told us we were married.

Of particular note was that several couples were getting divorced at the same time, in the same room, and managed by the same people.  We were happy, they were sad.  And angry..lots of yelling and crying.  But not from us.  We were stoked.  Went back to the ripoff hotel and consumated the bloody thing.  Then had a tub and went downstairs to drink warm beer and eat slop.  But we didn't care...it was such a great time for us!

Another thing of note was that we were only the 19th foreign couple, ie; Chinese/weiguoren to marry in north Xinjiang for the year to August.  They told us that aside from one US citizen the rest were Russian and Kazakh.

I wonder if it is Russian men or women marrying?

I don't know the answer to that.  I do know that Russia has big interests in the petro-chemical industry out here and as such Russian workers have a presence.  Logically they are men.  So I guess Russian men/ Chinese women.  Although the women could be Uyghir.  But they're Chinese too...

Yup.

I went to the local registrar in the UK and gave her my details etc for the " certificate of no impediment"  I had to wait a month then went back to get the certificate.

I come to China and went to the UK consulate with the certificate and they had it translated and chopped for about 700RMB. That took 4 days I think.

Then just went to the wedding office with the papers and got married.  I remember having to sign a document saying I was not mad laugh.

That was 4 years ago.

I heard the divorce only cost nine RMB too wink.  I hope I never have to ask here how to do it

Do you think it will happen?

A bit too easy. People should learn to be patient, especially Chinese family.

Just get fake copies of everything and avoid all the running around, it's easier to get divorced when you use fake documents too.
