Hey,guys!i will be 30 two months later(though i always think i am 17 and was mistaken by many people as a teenager),as 30 is a special age for most of us,i'd like to spend the day in a meaningful and unforgettable way,do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!By the way,how did you or will you spend your 30th birthday?

This time of year you should be able to get some decent prices in Hainan. Fly down there with a couple of your closest friends, have a kick ass dinner. Should be doable over a weekend leaving Friday returning Sunday. If that is too much, I'd always favor quality over quantity. You can also just stay where you are but go to a restaurant that you would otherwise never go to because it's pricey. Or go to the park, fly a kite and bring snacks. I'd say it almost doesn't matter what you do for your birthday, but who you do it with that is important.

My own 30th had two parts. An evening with drinks with my friends, and a Saturday of cake eating with my family.

I haven't quite reached that milestone yet but I think the best birthdays are those spent with your closest friends and family. When I celebrate, I round-up all my friends and choose a nice restaurant. I've found that hot pot or chao cai restaurants are a good option when large groups are involved. Afterwards, we go out for drinks and dancing. If you want to do something more special, why not host a dinner/house party at your place? People always like home-cooked food and you can head to a restaurant any day. I think for my 30th I'm going to do just that: a dinner party with all my favorite food and lots of baked goods and booze!

I can barely remember my thirties, let alone my 30th birthday. I do remember at 35 asking myself if I was 35 or 25. That was a disappointment. My only advice, in the words of the 80s ska band The Specials is "Enjoy yourself......it's later than you think. Enjoy yourself.......while you're still in the pink. The years go by.......much quicker than you think. Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself....it's later than you think."

My 30th was last December. A low-key affair (not of my choosing) but it was fun.

Dinner with friends and a couple of beers.

Very different to the usual birthday (in China) of going to Beijing, eating a massive pizza at the cro's nest, drinking 15 pints in the tree and downing shots until I need to be carried back to my room.

I've had three birthdays in China, gather all your friends, go for hot pot or BBQ bring some beers and baijiu and make a night of it.

Or you could go to a place that lets you BBQ your own food, everyone brings their own and makes a day of it. We did that recently, it was a lot of fun.

If money is not an option go party it up with a few friends in Shanghai or HK for the weekend... though that may not be a good idea if you are married.. I think I read in one of your previous posts you were Chinese, if you are then I'm guessing you are married by now.wink

Happy birthday!

Invite all your friends and family. That's what we do in the U.S., though they usually throw a party for you. Go to KTVs and stuff, and do fun things with your friends, BUT BE SAFE. Imho, stay away from hookers/alcohol.

Hire as many girls as you can afford to help you celebrate, drink enough that you can feel it but not enough so that you can't remember it or pass out. Have a birthcake fight with the girls, add your own imagination.

I know this sounds like every night in China, but one more won't hurt. Don't follow Hulks advice, he's married. His wife makes him write that stuff.

Buy a bottle of whisky or  vodka. Mourn the loss of one year or think that death is one year closer againdevil. Wake up next day with hangover, grab a bottle of baiju and celebrate with full joy because you got one more year again (till next birthday) to think and mourn. Enjoy 364 days, hibernate one day, i.e. your birthday

Cheers....
