One of my friends married his girlfriend just three months after they met. Yes, both are Chinese.  Most in Guilin (haven't been in Beijing long enough yet) seem to marry within a few months of meeting or becoming BF/lGF.

I married my Chinese girlfriend after "dating" for 1 year and 6 months.

I write "dating" because I was only in China during the first 4 months, then we talked daily over Skype/QQ the next 7 months, until she visited me.

After her visit, I went to China 3 months later to meet her family. 1 month later, she came to my country and we married 3 months later.

They marry as soon as the guy's family can buy a house. Preferably as soon as possible so they seem normal.

I think the cultural pressures on the Chinese end tend to push them to marry based on their age. The older they are, the more they'll be eager/forced/pressured to marry sooner if the following conditions are met: the parents are okay with you, you have a stable job, and as others mentioned a house doesn't hurt.

Don't rush marriage. Don't let them rush marriage. Life is not a race.

I've known some people who dated for years before marrying. Seems like standard is around 1 year, but I personally know a couple who 办事了 after 31 days together. Literally. They seemed proud of that fact too. I would be scared to death.

I've been with my Chinese gf for 3 or so years and I'm not even ready.

My (limited) experience has shown they will date until the girl gets pregnant, and then get married soon after that.  I have yet to attend a non-shotgun wedding in China.  Been to 3 so far, haha.  Average dating time was less than a year, with one couple being less than 3 months...
