I was told by my school  it would take a month.  Is this normal?

I guess, WPermit and ILetter get approved/issued by SAFEA.

It took some 20 days, since I signed Contract to get both docs in Fujian.

It might differ in other Provinces, what depends on applications backlog.

Based from my own experience, 1 week to process the work permit and a week for the invitation letter.

We might get confirmation from somebody with same, short experience in Jilin.

Sounds like the school is not legally able to hire a FT and are just using any plausible sounding excuse to get you there.

find another school that doesn't procrastinate about sending you the required legal documents or pressure you to break the law:

No Letter of Invitation for your visa application? Goodbye school.

The school is BSing you about 'special circumstances'

If they have a legal teacher already, they know all about the process of getting the required documentation to you for the Z visa.

After signing the contract, i received the required official documents in my home country within 10 days. They couriered them to me to ensure the proper process was followed in my visa application.

If this is the same school you have already described as flaky, avoid them, otherwise we will probably see you on this board again and again with the **** they will put you through.

Surely you learnt from your previous experience and the experiences of others the importance of getting everything sorted properly before you arrive at the school.

My Government invitation letter took a long time to get. Easily a month.

It was for a non teaching job, but because I don't have a degree I had to produce all sorts of stuff to prove my experience and skills.

They even wanted a school leaving diploma: such things don't even exist in my home country.
