Q: How long does it take banks to replace a lost ATM card here?

I lost my wallet with my bank cards in it and applied for new ones. It's been over a week and I still haven't received my new card. Is this normal?

It took about 10 business days for me to get a replacement from Bank of China.

Well, if  you open a NEW account and transfer your funds from the old to the new, it will be done in the same afternoon.
HOWEVER, if you ask for a replacement card, it took me 17 days to get mine (calendar days, thank goodness!).

I have Shanghai Pudong Development bank and they replaced it the day I came in to report it missing. They even took me to a special VIP teller to skip the line that the other people were in. I think it was just because I was foreign but I'll take it!

Left my card behind at an ATM. I went to the bank to replace and it just took 1+ hour of rubberstamping. China Construction Bank.

I also had just closed the account and transferred the funds to a new one.
