Q: How long is your commute to work?

I live in Haizhu district of Guangzhou and work in Panyu. I have to walk for about 15 minutes, take the subway for an hour, and ride the bus for about 20 minutes for a one way trip.

I live in a gated community in a major Dong Bei city.  I work in the school established for that gated community.  I go down three flights of stairs, traverse two very nice European-square type parks, pay attention so as not to fall on all the ice and underlying black ice as it is called and then arrive at the school in less than 10 minutes.  I can go home for lunch, too, as the school runs like a country-school and we have a nearly two hour lunch.

But I envy you being in Guangzhou, beaufortninja, it's a great city and Panyu is a pleasant area to be in, too.

When I lived in Guangzhou, I had an opposite situation.  I lived in Panyu but my office was in ZhuZhang New City.  It was about a 30-45 minute drive depending on traffic.

Now, in the US my commute is arms length.  I reach over to the night stand, grab my laptop and I am at work.

MissA:

I loved telecommuting - I used to work from my computer and my morning would look something like this;
6:45 - MissA stumbles out of bed and puts dressing gown on.

6.47 - kettle goes on.

6.48 - coffee is drunk

6.50 - computer is turned on

6.50 to 7am - MissA sits there like a zombie waiting for coffee to kick in

7am - work begins.

In China, 30 minutes walk or ten minutes of very horrible bus. Very often, I chose the walk. Better yet was taking a taxi, but they were very hard to find at the crucial time.

Back home in Oz - ten total minutes walk on either side of a very pleasant ten(ish) minute bus ride.

Saturdays 20 mins

Mon - Fri am 25 mins

Mon - Fri 5-6pm 30 mins

Mon - Fri 6-7pm 35 - 45 mins

All by ebike.

I class 5-6 as rush hour and 6-7 as absolutely fu&%ing crazy suicidal hour.

20-30 minutes depending on traffic. I'm lucky because my school reimburses my taxi fees . I also happen to live near a big hotel so finding a taxi is usually pretty easy.
