Considering that most Chinese don't know much about their own mythology and history (which is mostly made of myths)?
I mean most people in the West, even non-religious people know about God, Jesus, Adam and Eve or Noah, but how many Chinese heard about Pangu? Not many I think.
Pangu was the first living being in Chinese mythology, he emerged from the whirling chaos and broke it with his axe, this divided Yin and Yang, thus creating the Earth and the Sky. When he died his flesh and bones turned into various geographic and cosmic features and gave birth to the first humans.
My wife had never heard of it. But she hasnt heard of anything. Doesnt care that the world is an egg. Some of my friends knew of it, but couldnt provide any details. So im going to say not many.
My wife knows. She told me the myth in great detail.
People are answering according to their wives !! My answer is no because I don't have a wife !!
It seems that only the Chinese women know anything about China.
Good topic, I learnt something nice I asked my wife, she explained the whole story to me. She got the story from a book, she reads lot since she was able to read. But she is not sure where she got the book with the story.
I'm calling BS, how can the first living being have an axe? Who made the axe? I think the axe was mailed from Gobekli Tepe or Norte Chico in Peru or some other place that developed before China. I'll buy that the first living being caused inbreeding.
but a lot of them Chinese know about yin and yang..
whenever I have to listen to them they always include this story in their talk..
