I've always had mine back within about ten days and it's the PSB who handle it, not SAFEA.

I never had to pay for mine, my employers handled all of that and I never heard of a way to speed it up but then I never asked, when it's that time of year you just need to plan to not use your passport for a week to ten days.

if there is a way it would probably be guanxi related - how good your relationship is with the local PSB.

That's what I meant, the RP renewal, good for another year and it allows you to live and work in China. It's good for multiple entries so you can travel abroad and return with no problems.

I think that's what you mean, the RP?

now i mean Foreign expert certificate. Or they have changed laws and now it is called Work Permit, the one you get before they issue or renew your Residence permit.

It probably depends on your employer's relationship with the visa people.

It being China there is no hard and fast rule but like I say, I never had to wait more than about 10 days before I was renewed and had my passport in hand again.

I just had all my documents processed for the next year. They kept my passport for 20 days (max) and cost me 800 rmb. That was for resident permit and foreign expert certificate. Since I remained with the same school, I did not have to do a physical, nor did I have to submit other documentation such as security checks.

You mean the PSB?

SAFEA is the legal office in charge of settling disputes between Foreign and Chinese entities.

PSB is basically the immigration office in charge of delivering visas to people who already are in China.

To answer you, I don't remember exactly but I think it's 10 days.

ironman510:

SAFEA is also the office that handles your doc's to get you the acceptance letter that allows you to get a RP at the PSB.

If you're renewing it shouldn't take too long, I'm gonna guess you're gonna stay at your current company? Than depending on the city your in it should take 1 day to stamp your expert book and than 2 weeks or less at the PSB for your new RP. But if you're like me and apply for the A B C talent card it will take much longer as this is the busy season and we're being grandfathered into a new system.

I changed the company and province and it took 15 working days at PSB. I have just got my passport. Really envy those who said it only took them 10 days, I always had to wait for at least 3 weeks.

ironman510:

How long did the SAFEA process take? This would be from the day you handed the new company all of your doc's and before you went to the PSB. Did you get a A B C talent card?

This is either a non-native and the school is lying about being able to get you a work visa or the OP is another poser

Exactly as I thought your question is bogus, you could have simply stated that you're from a native speaking country, I'm one of the few if not only member here who never gives out my personal details. SAFEA doesn't hold your passport.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
