My friends want to wire me money to bring back 4 new 4s's. Can I do this?
If not what is the risk? They can't get them in China and they are begging me.

Mind you, this is over a year old, but it might give you a starting point.
You have to be careful not to have more than can be considered for personal use. Otherwise, you may very well be taxed for them when you try to cross the border. Apple has been pushing hard to crack down on grey market smugglers recently. Even people crossing with just 1 new Apple product have been forced to pay tax if it didn't look used. (and if they were caught, of course.)
Dude, contact them and tell them you will do it providing they understand the risk of having to pay import duties if caught, or as far as confiscation. If they agree to accept the risk, and pay in advance, then do it.
If I were you, I will place them in my carry-on, and just walk the line "Nothing to declare" at Customs. Yes, you will have to place your bags for X-ray inspection, but in over 80 of those, I have never had my bags searched, or anything questioned. Once, I had 6 litters of spirits and 15 cartoons of cigarretes in one of my suitcases. When asked to place them for X-Ray inspection, I thiught this is it, law of probabilities caught up with me. But when I moved to the other side of machine, I was signaled to pick my suitcases and go, I could not believe so I asked "OK ?" and was told yes, go.
But if you are caught, claim one is yours, one for wife, and two for in-laws, and smile a lot. Use charm to get away with it. Four ain't bad, 1,000 will be contraband.
