12 years 40 weeks ago in Teaching & Learning - China
I had 40 - 45 in 10th grade classes. It's a handfull sometimes, staying a step ahead of 'em.
For many schools English classes, as many as they can fit into the classroom.
Here's my experience in Guangzhou - I'm not talking about the suburban hill-billy places like Baiyun and Panyu too, city shit.
Middle School: 40-45
High School 50-55
Kindergarten 15-25
I'll just throw in a bit of mumble here... I've always found it strange that these city schools still pack in so many students. During my initial two month stint in Hunan (a classic village/town) I was just blown away by the amount of students in a class. However, to see it in one of the richest cities in China in some pretty decent schools I actually find it quite surprising that the numbers are still as high as they are.
That all depends I've been in classes where the number exceeds 30. Doesn't get quite to 40, but it can get up to 30+ students. A small class will be considered less than 10 students and a middle sized class between 15 to 25 students.
