by the insane policies, behaviours, customs, incidents, racism, etc etc, etc, etc. I could go on. Every day I log into this there are numerous other happenings in the middle kingdom that are just downright mental. Have any of us become de-sensitized to it or are we still constantly amazed/angered?
when a new colleague joined last year, while we were walking down a street, he was constantly pointing out things i no longer noticed.
I am still surprised by some things, but i have been taking things with as much good-humour as possible.
that is not to say when i meet other foreigners for a coffee, we still compare what we have seen or experienced! It makes for interesting, and sometimes amusing, conversatons !
I've been following Australian politics, yet China's antics are far more bizarre...

no no no america is just as bad. (america=foreign country which includes aussie)
The only thing that actually surprises me is that it is impossible for the people and leaders of China not to spot how they are out of whack with the rest of the world.

I am not saying everyone should be the same, actually some differences are what makes life interesting. It's just, crapping on the streets, talking loud, driving like an ass. There must be better ways of defining a culture.

yes, and yes. there are some stories that come out and shock me. and i'm surprised by my being surprised. the story about the smoking naked 6 year old isan example. but it is ok, because we can hire morons to go online and say america is the same.
I am more 'confused' as surprised..
for example.. the way they walk around, they do not seem to be aware of the presence of others or other vehicles.
Here there are many 3-wheeled taxi-bikes that pedal around.Everyone is aware of them, everyone uses them but it is confusing when I am riding in one and the driver rings his bell to alert others that he is coming only to be met with blank, unfocused stares... I can't.. can not.. understand why they are like this !
I see the same 'zombie-like' look when they are crossing the road... Why ? Is it something in the food ??
Wake up it's a bus..car.. truck...or 3 wheeled taxi-bike... These are everyday things... things that have existed for a long time...Why look so stupid when you see one ?
As I said... not surprised more confused... I can't understand why they appear not to understand the obvious !

It's the water Teggs! Don't drink the water. It makes you... pliable.

You could be right ! I am sure there must be something they eat/drink that we don't ... Cheers anyway !
Nothing really surprises me anymore. I've seen everything, and I'm no longer shocked. I do get angry, though...
Since i was born in this country,My heart was made cold and eyes was made blind by people, they don't allow "Special".So nothing surprises .
I have some training from my home country, I'm not that shocked.

Especially when it comes to guanxi, I'm sure Bulgaria is no different. You can't even get a job without guanxi.
I think it is mental, these people walk around so zombie like that I have seen, kids, women and men being hit by, e-bikes, cars and especially buses because they step right in front of these vehicles without even looking left or right, it isn't like they can't hear the vehicles, they are just so zombified.
