No, and actually there was a lot that I needed to do to get into China. First I had to contact my future employer and send him a number of documents proving my nationality (my passport), that I had graduated from college (my degree), and that I had held a job for a period of time exceeding two years (two references.) Then I needed him to send me a letter inviting me into your country to teach. Then I had to go to the nearest Chinese embassy and have everything, including my passport, approved. Once they did that, they glued my Z visa to one of my spare passport pages. When I got to China I was able to use my Z visa and a paper certifying that I'd had a check-up performed at a hospital in China to get a residence permit, which again, was glued to one of the extra pages in my passport. Every time I switch jobs, or a year passes, I have to get a new residence permit. To do that, I must submit my visa to my employer, and they give it to the appropriate government office. I'm glad you asked this question, but it does bother me that when people assume that I was dishonest about my nationality when I tell them what my job is.

Victoria, every country has different regulations.
Matt's extremely detailed description will be very helpful to any non-Chinese wanting to enter and work in China legally. It will give you precisely zero assistance in applying to any other country.
never did that...............cause my boss was my friend when i was a teacher
Funny you should ask... I just finished reading about this on the below blog thread and it seems that Chinese and foreigners define "lie" and "cheat" much differently.

Don't need to. I'm exactly what they are looking for.

You guys are way too naive - you can buy ANY forged document you need in China. A phony but great looking passport (identical without the chip of course) sells for 2,000 yuan and a diploma from Tsinghua can be gotten for only 1,000 rmb. So for a few bucks you can be an American, Canadiana, Aussie, etc. Couple these forged documents with phony references (your friends) and you can just about talk your way into any job if you have the balls and confidence to do it. Only the large international MNCs do background checks and that is where you will get nailed. I suggest you take a look at the posts about employee and employer frauds at http:cleverchinacheaters.blogspot.com and you will see that Chinese employers even have an employee blacklist. You may even be on it! Check and see before you apply for another job.
And if you are applying for any job with foreign employers, the HR people actually expect you to lie so why not give them a refreshing surprise and tell them the truth!

No...you get nailed when they submit your fraudulent papers to a government office and your cheap passport gets identified as a cheap forgery.

Oh no! The public warning guy is back!! And surprise! His post included the CheaterscheatedbycleavercheatersinChina website!! Gee, I think I'll click on that link right now! So I can see who was cheated by what cheater that is cheating cheaters in China!! Well, that's clever.
DramaKids:
I have yet to see a resume that was truthful. One guy virtually walked out of my office after he could not remember the names of 2 of his 3 previous supervisors after I told I would call them for a reference check!
PUBLIC...
What the hell is use of mentioned forged passport, if You need REAL visa to enter and leave China? Would You give them FAKE passport for real visa?!
Government institutions are not as small school, and as far as I know they need few days for issuing visa because of at list basic check - including database of exit-entry.
Can You imagine what would happened if They put Your fake passport and visa application picture in computer, and it would match with DIFFERENT passport?
Use fake passport to have working visa is not about "having a balls" but "not having a brain".
by the way nationality doesnt mean you are a native speaker so dont rely on documents such as passports, for example i have a friend, she is from china but has lives most of her life in peru, she doesnt speak a word of chinese but she speaks spanish and english, her english is just as good as mine and im from london
if the employer cant tell when someone is lieing just by talking to them their in the wrong biz
