It's pretty good, and the price isn't too steep. I was a regular patron while I was in Beijing. Better and cheaper than similar deals I've tried in Shenzhen.

Xiabu Xiabu is the Japanese term for Hot Pot.  To be honest, I forget what the Chinese term is at the moment.  Depending on where you are, I would not recommend using Japanese terms in public.  In any case...

One of the main reasons that hot pot is so popular is because it is a community meal.  Kind of like Korean BBQ.  Everyone at the table cooks and shares and it promotes a spirit of camaraderie.

To me, the taste is really nothing special, but it is more fun than just sharing a normal meal with friends.  It also has the added bonus of generally being cheaper than normal meals.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
