Some very insensitive answers on here today.
There re are many reasons why a woman might consider abortion, some possibly trivial, some very serious. The suggestions above of adoption work in some cases but not, I think, in the majority.
From what hat I see most of the replies here up to now are from men. Can you think and put yourself in a woman's shoes? I can't!
Abortion for most women is not a decision taken lightly....though in China it doesn't have the same stigma it has in, for example, the USA or Eire. So a bit of consideration in your replies would be more appropriate.
And before you ask.....I'm pro-choice.
I guess, you should go to the nearest Hospital, and seek info about procedure there.
Enter 'SAFEA' in search above for address and contact no. of Provincial Foreign Expert Bureau.......
Zhejiang Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs

and dial them for an info about it. Don't send an email, because as per my experience, they rarely check and reply to the email. Dial!
Use a condom, damn.
Hotwater:
Insensitive & poor reply. Condoms aren't always 100% effective. I should know...I wouldn't be here if they were!
Yeah, I am with Hulk. Consider finding another family to raise the child.
An abortion just seems so cold and I hear it traumatizes women. So does giving up a baby to another family but... it is a better alternative than eliminating life and perhaps an option that can help you to better face yourself in the mirror each morning.
If you cant find a western hospital on the net, I would suggest you try the swankiest hotel in town. Go there and ask if they have a hotel doctor, or where the western hospital is, then take it from there. It will cost mind, but stay away from Chinese hospitals for a termination.
Also, if you are black, a Chinese hospital will not want to help you at all. I know this from experience when a black friend wanted the same procedure.
Some Chinese hospitals have western clinics attached. The top hotels know where they are.
Good luck. And peace be with you
I am pro choice.

I doubt this person is being serious. Just posting something provocative. I don't think it's a laughing matter. Somebody genuinely wanting this procedure would not post this here
Hotwater:
It possibly is a troll.....that still doesn't excuse some of the replies.
ScotsAlan:
A single post? I suspect someone with nowhere else to go. Benefit of the doubt etc.
DrMonkey:
Well, abortion is an easy topic to pick to stir controversy, because it stills polarize people so much. Any good troll knows the classical polarizing topics ! Not saying it's trolling, it might be genuine.
ScotsAlan:
Just spent a few minutes on Bing. No answers there. I stand by my suggestion of asking at the local 4 or 5 star hotel.
Just say you need a western doctor.
if you want an abortion, and the pregnancy is still early enough, that is your right. you may have faced pressure from family to keep it, and if you are still resolved to terminate, i'd say do it and don't look back. hesitation amd lingering regrets may haunt you if you give in to them.
for Chinese nationals, abortions are very cheap, but there is a clandestine risk that the woman is made permanently barren (by unscrupulous doctors trying to lower childbirth rates) if you choose mechanical. they might just take out more than you bargained for. chemical/medical abortion is severe on your body, but the risk that doctors harm your/her future fertility is removed. they still need to "go in" for examination, but nothing that could potentially harm.
i haven't experienced abortion, though my wife came very close once she became pregnant 8 months after our first baby was born. there are good reasons why somepne may choose abortion. my wife had a good reason (health safety), but took the risk anyway.
as for you, hastily posting an anonymous message on an expatboard… did you get a girl pregnant? is she asking a lot of compensation for abortion? realize that abortions are CHEAP in china, and the whole pregnancy story may be a scam/ultimatum to get something from you. a marriage or a wad of cash. both are good for mercenary women. if you are convincedshe is lying about costs, it's probably a scam, so feel no shame in running or shunning.
coineineagh:
haha, actual advice rather than judgemental dogmatic anti-abortion mantras gets downvotes of course. Go see the unwanted, abandoned beggar children on the streets of Manila and tell me if you're still adamantly against abortion. It's not enough just to live - quality of life is a consideration. If parents feel they can't offer any, who are we to tell them they must 'save the life of the child'?
Although you are probably trolling you can find advertisements for abortions inside pregnancy tests here in China. Just search on Yahoo! they will have the answers.
A Chinese woman I know spent about 4000 RMB on hers. That included tests to confirm the pregnancy and pre- and post-op appointments. If you're a laowai, you'll probably be directed to a VIP or international clinic. Those do not accept insurance from the Chinese health care system, in case you're relying on that; you will be expected to pay immediately, and the cost may be ten times the amount for Chinese (i.e. 40,000 RMB). Alternatives:
1. Have the baby (super-expensive, which the anti-choice people love to ignore).
2. Return to your home country if you have insurance there, and abortion is legal AND available (that's not the case in many places in the U.S., if you're American).
3. Take your chances and have the abortion in a regular Chinese hospital. Think about it - they're experts. They perform a lot of abortions here - probably more than in your home country. Improve your odds of a good result by going to a hospital specializing in OB-Gyn or a "Family Planning" hospital.
Good luck. As you can see from the haters, you're going to need to keep this to yourself as much as possible. I'd recommend counseling for the inevitable psychological issues you'll face, but it's nearly non-existent in China. Be sure to somehow find sb you can talk to, sb you can trust. You will probably need sb to go with you to the hospital.

ScotsAlan:
Good answer... apart from one thing. The procedure is free for Chinese. Its free because it is complusary if you dont have the books.
please don't kill that poor child. My wife is pregnant for 3 months and I could feel the baby in the womb breathing and moving hands and toes already. Have mercy of the little one. Lord have mercy!
