Much depends on where in Shanghai, prices can be up to 5 times higher in core districts than in the suburbs.
u may specify u want to buy or lease for right replies!
If you want a nice furnitured single apartment. You'll get it around 4000rmb in the city.
If if you live in the suburb not too far from the city, around 3000-3500rmb.
If you live in a rural area of Shanghai, you may likely to get it between 2000-3000.
Those are the prices I could get on Chinese housing website, I would recommend you to ask help from your Chinese friend or pay a helper to help you.
Most houses on English websites are overpriced. Unless you don't mind spend 5000-6000rmb to get a single apartment, then go on an English website. Most single flat is posted by agents or foreigners who rented from agents.
Buy or rent? What kind of? How many rooms? How large? In which district?
