Q: How much can English teacher make in Beijing?

Hi there,

I would ask you to post how much English teacher can make in Beijing. I am having ft job (non teaching), but have plenty of time in the afternoons, as well as on weekends. What should I expect?

Some other details: from EU, non native (although fluent), master's degree.

Any info will be greatly appreciated Smile

You could be making over 25 grand but you would have to more than likely find a job paying you 2 grand per month and you probably would have to do some teaching or a little  bit of extra work to make that type of money!

I have friends in Beijing making RMB 7 - 10 K per month.  And then I have friends in Beijing making 15 - 25 K per month, the two lots being about equally divided.

Thank u guys for this answers so far, hopefully more will follow Smile

@nevermind, no it s not my 1st lang, although I can argue that I met just couple of non natives with my level of proficiency. Not to brag about it, but since I studied in English, using English at work for some years and spent years abroad, it is indeed good.

nevermind:

What's you native language? You may be able to make more teaching that if it's rare.

You are not fluent and that will limit your teaching income.

Hahaha, u just have to love clowns who come here and bash people asking for advice, but can't provide a single, useful comment themselves.

Hopefully some people are more smart here, and can provide actual answer to the question in topic.

OK Mr. Cool! As an English teacher in Beijing, one can make anywhere from 5,000 RMB to 20,000 RMB per month depending on your experience and qualifications.

I am not a teacher myself but I have been offered private tutoring gigs in Shenzhen for 200rmb an hour but I refused for various reasons.

I think this would be your best bet and it is relatively flexible.  You just need to find the parents (monied) who want you to help their kids with English.

It depends on your teaching skills coz some people can get along with the kids even though they are not a real teacher and may be the minimum wage might be 150 Rmb/hr if you are a part time teacher.so, it depends how many hours you work in a week.

Again, your income may be limited as you seem unfamiliar with the use of articles.
