Do our bosses even want to know who we are in private? Should they feel entitled to know?

It is the responsibility of each and every of us to report all details of personal life to our bosses in a weekly report. To do no less would be tantamount to damnation.
This will be stipulated in your contract and is punishable by law if uncompliance occurs.
There used to be a great organization which shared all details of members lives with their employers, and mandated supervision of wechat conversations. But through treachery that organization was defeated.
Details of their supervision of wechat communication supervision program can be found here:
With the way Chinese people gossip, nothing is private. The entire city knew where I lived and the things that I did. I was famous, a hero.
You don't need to tell them about your private life. But they will be very curious at you. And if they find out that you are still single, they will keep on setting you up with numerous blind dates until you get a girl/boy friend.
They don't need to know anything although in China people want to know everything, not because they care about you but because they can use that as a weapon in case of conflict.
Personally just because we work together doesn't mean that we are best friends, if I like you maybe we can become friends, otherwise we will never be anything more than coworkers.
In China people tend to be best friends when they work together then to not talk to each other anymore when they don't work together, I find it very stupid.
