Q: How much do you pay for the annual car inspection (年检)?

I'll need it for 2015 of course. The dealer I bought my car from said I could just bring it to him to renew it, but I'd like to make sure he's not ripping me off. I bought my car secondhand in January of this year. I'd also like to clarify that I only need to get it to drive in 2015? And if so why did I see a car with a 2015 and 2016 sticker back in May? I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but any useful feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It only cost me 100 rmb at the local testing facility.  If you take it to your dealer, I assume he will in essence just be acting as an agent for you, as the car will still need to go to your local testing center (ran by the traffic police).  Also, you only need to have a car inspected once every 2 years, for the first 6 years...so this is why you can find cars now with a 2016 sticker.  Thereafter it becomes a once-a-year affair.  Maybe it's different for second-hand cars.

Take the car there yourself, it takes a few minutes.... at least when I went there, there was no sign of any actual inspecting going on. It's just a sticker shop.
