2-300.

Last summer tiered pricing was introduced here in Zhuhai. So price per kWh is different during different times of day. (e.g. it is cheaper to do laundry at night, if you think a cold water washing machine matters when there are several A/Cs running)

nothing it is included in my pay. They did shut off my power the other day though because the man in charge forgot to pay it but a few phone calls and it was taken care of. Smile

Nothing! My electricity (utility) bills are included in the School's budget. However, I often get disconnected from the grid (usually around 1st), because School didn't dedicate somebody to pay bill at the China Power every month.

I was without power 2 days for Christmas last year. This one is marked 'intentionally' in my 'books'.

Last month (after some 7th 'power failure' in 9 months), I asked Chinese teacher to write me message in Chinese for 'grid' employee. I paid 300 Rmb for my elec. account, which I got immediately refunded at the School. Accountant told me, electricity is probably paid for next 3/4 of the year, so I'm ready for next Christmas. Same thing happen with water and Internet. In Xinjiang.

Ahhhh... what would we do without this board?

I paid my light bill just this morning. Two months: 330 RMB. November and December. Cold months...

Running wall-mounted, twin-temp aircon units in two rooms at night, lamp and ceiling lights, 60-litre electric water heater in the bathroom, fridge, whatever else plugs into a wall socket.

Back in the US of A, my light bill was $100 a month on average and year-round for a much smaller abode than I have in China.

Doing the math: In the States, I paid the equivalent of 600 RMB approx on electricity every month. In China, I pay 165 RMB a month.

Why such a huge difference? Explanations anyone?

DrMonkey:

Energy is largely sponsored by the state, for social peace and enhance the level of life. Also the major power source is coal, which is cheap, especially when none of the measures to reduce a bit it's nefarious side effects is done. It's cheap now, but your lungs and those of your child will pay the real price.

My bill varies depending on the weather: Lowest 2 month bill was 450 RMB, the highest 2 month bill 3800 RMB. I heat the house in the winter and cool it in the summer.

Nessquick:

what ? how much you pay for 1kW ? 20rmb ?

jeez, we pay 0,57 rmb/kW in a day, in a night shift is half price ...

I will ask my gf, she says that the more we use the higher it is per KW to encourage people to save energy. I keep the house heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. Spring and fall aren't to bad. I think if it averaged out it would be between 1700-2200 for two months.

lol, last month the bill was 2300yuan.  most months it hovers around 500 - 600.   I don't like feeling uncomfortable.  They say it's going to be a hot year.  I have windows all around in my new apartment, so I didn't install air conditioning.  I will rely on cross ventilation on the 25th floor.  Hope it works.

My biggest ever ticket was 1100rmb few years ago in Yiwu, where the landlord have control over the counter and the price. when we moved to the normal house with own bank book to pay the electricity fee, we never exceed 600rmb in a winter, running 2 el-oil heaters, AC, TV all the day, water boiler, 3 computers, what ever ...

The wife says we pay about 800 a month during the height of summer. Less during the other months.

I need cold rooms in the summer..... very cold laugh

Scotsman eh.  I had a Scottish mate I used to play golf with in Queensland and he did it hard.  We'd skoff upwards of a dozen grogs as we went around.  And when we got back to the air conditioned clubhouse we really hit the piss!
