Q: How much does it cost to have a baby in China?

Having a baby anywhere is a huge investment but is it cheaper? More expensive?

The first question is, Are you going to raise it like a standard Chinese style or Western?

If the baby is going to be raised exactly how the average person you see on the street was raised, then of course it will be cheaper. Better? Well that's for you and the lady with your seed to decide.

Now if you are going the more Western style: buying high quaility diapers whenever you can find them, importing formula because the local stuff is fake crap, paying for a great international school because you don't want your child taught to not think for him/herself, and regular visits to the nicest hospital because everything around here, including the air, is bad for the baby. Well you can see how the prices can quickly stack up to exceed the cost of having said baby elsewhere.

A friend of mine who has a shop said it cost 2,500 RMB for his wife to have their baby, in a hospital, about 2 years ago.
