Q: how much does it suck to be broke in china?
just wondering what people do when they r broke, wether you have or dont have family and friends.i know this place is relatively cheap but just one of those days or weeks or months that you have no dime in a foreign land and have to pay rent, a.c,water etc
Without a doubt, it does suck !.
I was in those shoes once, some time ago but not in China. And I made the vow that those shoes will never fit me again. So I forced myself to learn two things, one was to live within a budget, and when emergencies aroused try hard to save extra in the next few months to compensate for that emergency expense. And the second was to have savings.
When you are actually broke, not much you can do but seek help from others while looking for a job. The trick is to react to circumstances so you are never actually "broke":
I lost my bank card once. I don't work, so my bank account is my only source of income. It was a nightmare. A month in hell. Like Happy, I always have a backup stash somewhere or with someone.
It would suck to be broke anywhere, but at least try to look on the bright side it coud be worse. And money isn't everything. At least you have your health and your friends and family with you. Your able to walk and talk so you can live a normal life other people are in worse positions if their health is bad to the point they can't walk and talk. Just keep a positive attitude and surely something will come your way. God has a plan for all of us!
I ever met one guy in bar. He was completely broke and got sort of disease. I asked if he could ask for help from his families to back his country. He refused to do that with firm attitude. The situation was getting worse since he stopped trying to find a way out. The last time I saw him, he already started to speak to himselfe in very wired behavior.
why did everyone get thumbs down? This is actually an interesting question. Anyway, lucky for you, your friendly neighborhood thumb-upper your problems have gone away!
It majorly sucks. Missing out on things to do such as eating in nice restaurants, going out at night drinking decent beer and buying nice amenities.
Sitting in every day eating cheap noodles can get tedious.

totally agree, need to start to have saving. I am suffering this kind of thing now, ran out of my last penny on my travelling and rent apartment.
