Slightly mis-quoting from Blues Brothers...
We hear and see the 'sleazy' old men with their young mistresses... and I have wondered (for a while now) - just how much money does it take???
We joke about iPhone and iPad - but more seriously... what's the level of 'rich' in this country now?
A decade ago, rich was significantly lower than it is now. And apparently, China now has more billionaires than the US. And, one would also have to guess, more millionaires as well.
Obviously, this question will depend on what city you're in.... 10 million RMB in Shanghai is nothing - 10 Million Meiyouzhou is a fortune!
This happens in every country. Women are taught by society to look for stability (safety). A long time ago that would have been the healthiest, strongest male. In the modern world they feel safest being with the rich man because they will never have to worry about not having a roof over their head or going hungry. Of course the fact that they won't have to work again and get expensive gifts, cars, holidays and food helps too.

In every patriarchal society....
Yes, I know that! My question is basically - what is considered 'rich' here? Rich enough that attractive women will throw themselves at guys they normally wouldn't.
Lord_hanson:
How would you define rich in Australia? I imagine the requirements are similar here. For example a certain % of the average income or net assets. Not sure what that percentage would be in my country but I guess there is a certain percentage. I understand what you are getting at though, rich in one country might not mean rich in another country. I guess it doesn't matter as to the exact amount as long as it is more than the other males competing for the female.
Shining_brow:
That's a good point! The level of the richness factor may only really matters when the girl has choices!
My wife was the best $25 I ever spent
Now she is paying for it lol
10 year's on March 17th we first met

What happens between adults is their own damn business. You're intelligent enough to know this. People who sit on their high horse in judgment of how adults live their own lives need to get a life of their own.
Shining_brow:
Yes, perhaps you do.
And perhaps, if you get the chance, try re-reading the actual post I put up - instead of inventing your own interpretation, which includes a nice "Hi, Ho, Silver, away....".
WooMow:
I didn't sense any judgment in the question, OP even put "sleazy" in quotations. Honestly, the title was just (pretty good) click-bait, the real question was, in China, at what point are you considered rich?
To which my answer is, you're as rich as others perceive you to be. Get the car, the house, the clothes and you can probably get away with being "rich" even if you're in crippling debt.

I asked this question in one of my futile English class for my colleagues. Sadly this description maybe not be true, because the whole class of four were men... don't ask!
So it all depends on
1. the car they are driving
2. Gifts
then it goes from there... these women don't really care about how rich the dude it. Since it possibly wont hold up for long.
So I asked what if two men, one driving beemer and other merc, who would they choose.
guess what they said?
Shining_brow:
I presume the answer was 'both'... although, I've been told that the BMW is socially worth more, and mercs are for older guys.
It really depends on the level of mistress you are looking to buy....The term "rich" is highly subjective...
A guy who is well to do could have 10 mistresses around the country and support them...but are they stunning. submissive and face gainers?
A super rich guy will have 5 girls around the country and spend 20 times as much.
Women (mistresses) in China are like consumer goods....hotness is only one factor.
Just quick correction for you. US has the most Billionaires at 536, China has 213. I do think they have more Millionaires now, though.
Shining_brow:
Forbes quotes different numbers. However, even though I'll be shown to be incorrect, I was pointing out that China is making billionaires pretty damn fast! (although, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those collapse within the decade!)
When you say 10 milion doesn't mean anything in Shanghai...it depends what what type of weatlh you are talking about.
Lots of families may have a book net worth of 10 million RMB but it will be because of property appreciation. They may have a pretty modest household income, they just own an apartment that massively appreciated over the last 15 years. They may have a perfectly comfortable lifestyle and happy lives but it's not like that 10 million is really liquid in any way.
So it really depends what your situation. The 30 year old guy who has a 10 million RMB stake in a profitable company is probably living large. Tons of female interest. The guy who just owns a house but has no income potential beyond just renting out the house and working full time for 4K/mth would be significantly less competitive.
