Q: How much to pay housing agent when renting apartment in China?

One month rental or it is negotiable? I heard in Shanghai people can pay as low as one third of monthly rental cost because of the competition.

well last year when i rent a apt , i paid him one month rent as his commission. if you are good at negotiations then it will work.

35％ for both parts is the standard in Shanghai. No more than this, and yes if u r good at negotiation u don't even need to pay, only landlord pays his/her part.

I was told more than 4,000 kuai a month rent and you don't pay.

I also paid 35% of my 1 month's rental fee here at Shanghai.
