Every six months (for the last few years) I wire transfer money from USA to China. The Bank in USA charges me $ 45 for the wire transfer, some International Money Fund in New York charges me $ 10 also, but locally I use Bank of China, and they call me on my cell phone when the transfer arrives, and I am given the choice of depositing it to my account in dollars or yuan, and you get a better exchange rate with an electronic transfer than with cash. Bank of China charges me nothing for this service.
