Q: How much should I expect to pay for 1 year gym membership in Beijing?

I recently asked how much a one year membership at bally fitness was and they quoted something rediculous like 4000 a year. That just seems too much. What's everyone else paying? Does anyone know of any gyms in Chaoyang district under 2000 a year?

I think the harsh reality is that you'll have to fork out at least 4000 rmb for a year's gym membership in Chaoyang. If you look in other districts you may find cheaper ones, but in general I would say 4000 is the minimum.

Be careful when you go to a gym, Lolitta2, as it is often a cesspool of bacteria that will make you all itchy everywhere. This is why personal hygiene is so important. Always bring your own towel, don't touch anything unnecessary and when done, don't put the towel in the same bag as your other clothes. And clean that towel! Imagine if there's herpes lying around a bench, you put your towel on it before sitting, and 30 minutes later you rub your face with that same towel....

You don't joke with health so for the love of god, be careful!

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
