Well done for not answering the question but simply ploughing straight in with they rip off foreigners. I live in Guangzhou and run my AC at night for around 8 hrs a day, my monthly electric bill is around 280 - 400 a month. I will check the unit price later and let you know. As for being ripped off, its metered and you can check it yourself.

electric and water and i know because when i stayed in gz for a month they tried to rip me off meter means nothing if they are trying to charge you higher than normal per use , but i always do my homework and eventually they realized they better charge me correctly or else they would get nothing.

I would have to agree with marcupton here. The unit price should not be that high especially in GZ. In big cities such as BJ it's not that high. You could probably expect to pay around 200 to 400 kuai a month for electricity but that is of course how much of it you use. Remember to turn off all the electricity when you have no need for it to save you money and also protect the environment for myself and people like Marcupton.

Thde electrfical bill is not really  a month after months same price per Kw/hr used, it would depend from what it is generated.  If hidropower it would be cheaper, under 0.5 (like 0.489765 Rmb/Kw-hr), and if coal, gas or oil generated steam used to drive generators, then it would be more expensive, here is just under 0.7 Rmb/Kw-hr.

I do not live in Guangzhou, but in Guangxi Province (next door west), and my eletrical bill fluctuates from 250 to 400 Rmb per month, if I run all A/C units (two floors, 190 sq mts, 4 A/C units) 24/7 it goes to around 800 Rmb per month.

Water bill also fluctuates, some months as low as 12 Rmb, others as high as 17, yet I use always about the same amount.
