Q: How much was your wedding dress

Planning to get  married this summer. Going to do it at home, not in China... Don't like dresses here.. How much was the dress you liked and bought for your wedding?

Firstly, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

There are plenty of dresses to choose from, but you will need to do a lot of searching before you might find something you like.

As you may have seen, Chinese wedding dresses look like fluffy curtains, however, there are some that are actually very nice and of a different style.

For a good quality dress you will probably spend around 2000-5000RMB. Of course there are cheaper and also more expensive options.

Try searching for shops on taobao, making sure to carefully read their reviews. If you find a shop which is in your city, get in contact with them and arrange a time where you can go and try the dress on before buying it.

All the best!!

Thank you about Taobao. I actually tried to buy one, but it was not what I Wanted to wear, so sent it back. I ask about prices because all my Chinese friends just rented dresses.

Yes, buying from the internet is quite tough, because sometimes the product isn't as it should be. You can filter the results on TaoBao by city. So for example you can make sure that all the suppliers are in your city. Then when you find a dress you like, there is a button on the left hand side of the screen which says "进店逛逛" You can click on that and then get the contact details and the address of the shop itself.
