Q: How often do you eat chinese food?

Have to say, I like chinese food and used to eat different kinds of local food in different places on a daily basis. But recently I guess I'm just a bit fed up. Maybe no more chinese food for next two weeks...How do you balance your food choices here?

Just cook your own food. You choose what you want to eat and when.

In general I find Chinese food being obnoxious like its people. Very few dishes could be interesting but thet get ruined on constant basis by poor ingredients quality and/or cooks abuse of shitty oil and MSG.

I currently do not eat Chinese food as free choice.

Rarely, but when I do I chose quality restaurants, and I avoid meat as much as I can.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks that pork has a really weird taste in most places? Well, not weird actually, it just tastes like smelly market.

That tells you a lot about general hygiene standards of Chinese restaurants. Even "top of the line" ones.

Most of the time, because it's what I can find easily outside, and I like it. I don't eat meat (well, if there are small bits in the food, I won't make a scandal about it) thought. At home, my wife cook simple Chinese food, which I enjoy a lot. It's less oily, it's simple, it's yummy. She does a great effort to vary and try new ideas.

We eat other kind of foods sometime on week-ends. At home, my wife is keen on trying different things. I introduced her to steam-cooked fish in aluminum fold, and she makes nice curry Smile

I eat Chinese food every day.  My wife and ayi do the cooking.  Occasionally we will eat out but mostly we try to cook our own healthy meals. I travel often so I choose hotels with good cuisine. I was a vegetarian in America, but that's hard to do here.  I also get fed up with the monotony of Chinese food sometimes.  That's when I will cook my hometown comfort foods, mac-n-cheese, lasagna, baked beans, peach cobbler, etc..

Chinese food can be great when cooked by a skilled chef, but most of the time in most places they don't really care.  I don't want to take chances with my life.

I think, in almost 4 years, I've had 2 or 3 days where I haven't had Chinese food. Usually breakfast is not Chinese, but lunch and or dinner is most often, and rarely will both be non-Chinese on the same day

A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
