Q: How old do you?

Have to be to be able to teach English in a China school? Is there an age related employment scheme? Smile

lol, thanks but I ment an upper age limit, I am 58 and would love to visit China for about a year and thought about working while teaching English to pay my way. So do schools accept mature teachers?

You can teach up to the age of 60 with no problem. After 60 is posable if you in good health and teaching in china for longer than 2 years if your current school still want you they can pull some strings

Yes you are okay at 58. If you have good credentials within teaching and still have lots of energy you will find that the school who wants you will support you and be happy to have you.
Send me your info by email as I am recruiting for my school and will be happy to take a look at you.

18. But you need to have at least a Bachelor's Degree which most 18 year olds don't have. Schools with adult students typically have a minimum age requirement of 25-30 years old. It's kind of weird to have a 22 year old kid teaching 40 year old businessmen.

I am 56 and do not have a degree or a TESOL qualification. I have a certificate 4 in adult training and assessment and have worked as a trainer for many years in a large government transport organisation. I would be intersted in part time English teaching and am wondering if my work experiece would be treated as a degree equivalent.

Some of the nicer schools may put limitation on age, experience, having a degree, etc... but no matter the city, there will be a school that will hire you to teach just for being laowai. I've had friends that could barely speak English but still were hired as English teachers.

Most legit places won't touch you if you are under 25. 65 is the upper limit.
