It would depend on what kind of complaints you are receiving. Some parents have unrealistic expectations and some foreign teachers work leaves much to be desired (these are the two extremes).

One of the things you can do is meet with the parents and find out what it is that they are unhappy with.  If their complaint is sensible and realistic, then by all means listen and adapt. Make sure that parents and students know what your lesson plan is (which means that you need to plan and prepare your lessons).

Honestly, without more information, I find myself unable to really give you any real advice rather than the general advice I gave above.

Complaints usually come from the kids being bored. You are either working too much where they have so much work to do it bores them or you are doing nothing at all.

Whether you like to admit it or not, the Chinese students see the oral english class as a breath of fresh air. Not the pressure of a normal class. If you are giving too much work they  may not like this.

To sum up, be more entertaining and fun.

If it's coming from the students, you should sit down with them and figure out what makes them tick and what they enjoy. There is no one answer for this since everyone is different.

If it's coming from the parents, offer to spend some extra time with their kids outside of school, exchanged phone numbers with the parents and say you're always available. Give them some free materials you bought just so they think you really care. Usually these gestures are enough to make the parents think you're an awesome teacher even if you aren't that good. It just goes to show them that you CARE and this isn't just some job for you.

On the other side. some parents are unreasonable and will always complain. You just have to learn to ignore it and if they bother you about it tell them they need to talk to the school/learning center about it (this way you don't have to deal with them).  If you're doing private tutoring on your own then there's not much you can do accept learn to ignore it or eventually tell them you no longer have time to teach their kid.

In my experience it seems like a lot of parents complain when they don't know a teacher very well. No matter how good or bad the teacher is they will seem to find something to complain about if they don't know the teacher. This is the time when you need to reach out to them and make them think you really care (even if you don't).

after reading your other 2 posts your best bet would be to quit teaching. teaching isn't for everyone. if you must make a post "how to stop complaints" as opposed to "how to improve and get better as a teacher?" that clearly shows your head is in the wrong direction. please quit teaching, leave china, go back to your home country (do not go to another country). there are a lot of good teachers in china, we do not need people like you tarnishing our image.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
