I don't know, Tex.

The poker games are good, but the prostitutess upstairs all have the clap.

Yeah, sometimes I get mad when people say that the Chinese can only produce cut rate versions of western things. Then I go to a Chinese saloon and all the Chinese cowboys are drinking milk because beer is bad for them.

As a guy with thinning short straight hair (i.e. easy to cut) and a penchant for scalp massages, quite satisfied. For 30-60 RMB I go to an "upperscale" salon in one of Beijing's foreign neighborhoods. Price includes shampoo and massage, cut and cream rinse. And a cup of coffee. The equivalent would be 3-4 times more expensive in the US

I use quite a classy chain of salons. Often, when I get stressed out with business matters, I stop off for a head and shoulder massage.

Why on god's earth though, when I want to relax and chill out, do I have to answer a million questions about mundane aspects of western culture and have people clicking away with cellphone cameras?

Of course, I actually know the answer to my own question but it's annoying anyway.

Not satisfied, a girl colored my hair yellowish blonde, while I only wanted to get my roots touched up. Lots of explaining,no good result! Grrhhhh! Now growing my hair out and everything is ok.

I was satisied with a haircut I got in a Korean place a long time ago, showed them a picture, they did a good job.

If you want to go to a good western place then many places are simply overpriced - a thousand kuai for a haircut and color treatment? This could be done for 200 kuai at home.

I am perfectly happy. Where I am simple haircuts cost 10RMB. What is there to complain about?

I also like some of the saloons but I think that's a matter of taste.

My wife bought the tools on taobao and now you guessed it......I have my own hairstylist. She said she did it to save money. It's cute though, as she loves doing it and I get to drift off while she cuts my hair. Win-win!
