Enter Chinese bank of your choice, and ask them same Q. You'll get first hand A.

You can find at least one employee at almost every bank in China with passable English.

My favorite bank is China Merchants Bank, which will grant you an account & ATM card with Visa/Mc logo for 1000 Rmb deposit.

Write 'laowai friendly bank' in search above for more on CMB.

In the world outside of China it is straightforward to transfer personal money from one bank account in one country to a bank account in another country if you have the account numbers of both as well identification and proof of address.

In China is it different.

It can depend on what bank you have your account in China and the country you want to transfer to.

The Chinese bank might tell you that it 'does not recognise your country' and make it impossible for you to do this.

Check before-hand that you bank in China will do this - bring a trusted local friend if you can not speak Chinese sufficiently.

I only brought my passport and tax compliance information with me (i was told that was all i would need), only to be told that my home country 'did not exist'.

Your bank can also tell you what if you need to bring anything else.

I just transfered 50000 euro online - no big deal just have to tell them a reason otherwise it will be blacklisted. The reasons you can choose are stupid anyways i just took housing fund. 2 Days later they called and ask what is the reason. Anyways i transfered with ICBC, you just need your IBAN and BIC and you can just do all by urself online, no papers etc needed

I also transfered 5000 USD some weeks ago via online banking . i just need the receivers acct number and the swift code that's all.. in the next 4-5 days the receiver   got the cash.. but you have to tell them  what the cash will be used for otherwise  you gonna get blacklisted. and wait for nearly 3 weeks before the receiver can get the cash... the first time i tried to transfer online i didn't  tell them what the money will be used for, it lasted for 3 weeks before my bank account was credited ......  I USED ICBC

Please do not give out answers to questions like this. If you want to be able to move money out of this country, be smart. and keep your mouth shut on public forums.

I use Western Union. It is a bit more difficult. I found a Western Union near my parents home in the USA. And, I found a Western Union in my town in China. Many Postal Banks in China have Western Union. You can find the locations on the Western Union websites. I pay a small fee. But, it is nothing more than a bank fee. Once I transfer the fee, I email my parents with the acceptance code the bank gives me. My parents go to their Western Union locations, present their ID and the acceptance code, and they leave with the cash in hand. The first time you transfer, it will take about an hour for all the paperwork at the China WU locations to finish. But, after you have all the paperwork done, the next time should take less than 30 minutes. Just take all the papers fromt he first time with you so they can copy the information.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change student visa to labourer one is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
