a friend of mine is considering moving to Canada to work, but is skeptic in his chances of ever finding a job over there.
Masters from Peking University in Literature, interest in working for cultural centers, editing, etc.
For all the Canadians here, you think it'd be a tough bet? Ironically, it's in Montreal he wants to go...
Apply fo a government job, Canada has reverse discrimmination. Best jobs go to imports. I've seen links to applying to gov jobs on websites for immigrants. Also airport jobs, good job. Try and get these jobs at home if you're a white monkey, ha not !
nevermind:
"Reverse discrimination" is a BS term. It's just discrimination.
If your friend were to go to Montreal, considering that he is a graduate of Beijing Da in Chinese literature, he might consider looking for a teaching position at McGill University or at l'Université de Montréal, UQAM or Concordia. He might also consider looking for a position at l'Université Laval in Quebec City, which is a charming place. The major universities in Canada will know the strength and value of a graduate from Beijing Da.
Vancouver has an abundant number of Chinese, many imminently qualified, and your friend might find competition there rather severe.
Does he speak French? It will not be easy to find a job here in Montreal without French, unless it's McGill or Concordia university.
Here's a website with some information to those interested to study, work or immigrate to Quebec.

Tell him to get in touch with Chinese community and historical groups in Vancouver. They may be able to guide him. You can't just apply for a government job in Canada from China, no matter what SOME people think.
