Q: How were they eating the noodles before the invention of chopsticks?

Or maybe the noodles weren't there. Meat wasn't chopped into very tiny strings.

Grab the long noodles and start slurping and kissing them in

They sucked them up through wooden straws, but later got too lazy to hollow them out - hence the invention of chopsticks.

brown:

I think they were using bamboo to suck them up, hence the invention of slurping noodles which is still there today

Chopsticks were invented first. The Chinese didn't have noodles until about 1280 when Marco Polo showed them how to make spaghetti, obviously China never had good tomatoes for make sauce, so they are eaten plain. Thats how he made all that money in China.

They would put it in a bowl and tilt the bowl to eat the noodles. Just like rice was eaten only rice was eaten by hand for awhile until the invention of the spoon. no
