Q: How western women is perceived by Chinese people?

I am wondering what is the real regard on western in China speicially women. I have read a lot about feeling "rock star" which I am honestly not interested in. I just want to know how it is going on the level of human and friendly relationships. How local and foreign society intereact? Are family valeurs important?

China is mostly like anywhere else.  There are good and bad people.  But generally, if you treat others kindly and respectfully, you will be treated the same way.  Just use your common sense and you will be fine.  :)

Why dont I understand this site English too clear now???

Nadinka, I'm not a typical Chinese female. If you ask me how I look at westerner women here?...They are fat (most of them no shape), cheap, noisy but can dress proper in different scene and they are boring, always talk about "hypocritical""superfical"stuffs, even though they can also talke about current events (they just pretend themselves too much)...anyway, they are also easygoing (some of them)wink

nevermind:

God you're a turd. I doubt a western woman has ever talked to you. I also love how you say they're cheap when this nation is full of slutty women wearing knock of luxury products trying so hard to look like western women. Not to mention Western Chicks come from families with a gazillion times the money as most Chinese.

You've never left China, that's so obvious.

THE TOPIC IS ABOUT WESTERN WOMEN NOT CHINESE WOMEN...do you have to mention some of ugly Chinese girls here to DEFEND your ugly women?.......Easy....narrow minded ...small hearted ...."man"

nevermind:

Hurt my feelings? I just think you're pathetic. You know how many Chinese people live in my country? Too bad you're not good enough to go there. They wouldn't even give you a visa to visit, trash. If you actually WENT to the west you'd come back thinking CHinese girls are ugly.

I like a snowy Happy new year, rather than a no sky one...Beijing's time to ban the cars---the only solution for the time being...

I live in a third tier city. In fact, I'm the only young female foreigner in this city. I've heard of some stereotypes. I don't know if I'm just lucky or pretty enough for them, but they've only told me nice things. They say I am pretty, they like my white skin. I even said I'm probably a little fat compared to other girls here and they denied it, so I guess I'm skinny enough. I don't think they were lying to me. Actually, I feel like they think too highly of me. I find it a bit annoying, especially when they bug me to sing or play piano. I miss being invisible. People are always friendly to me. I've definitely experienced the "rockstar" treatment, and I was tired of it from day one.

I am a western woman (who is neither young nor pretty!) and my experience so far has been really positive. I live in a smallish city and I have found the local people to be really friendly and helpful. I do get some stares, but mostly out of curiosity. I feel as safe, or even safer, walking around this city as I would at home. I have had to adapt (e.g. by learning to stand my ground in a queue for the bus or supermarket), but for me this is all part of learning to live in a new country!

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
