Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: How is the WiFi in China?
Am wondering what kind of mobile plan to sign up for. Does China have true 3G? Or has it made it way right to 4 G?

Data traffic is expensive. And wifi hot spots are scarce. Generally you will get most data for your money at China Unicom, their coverage is OK in the cities.
It is not everywhere you will get 3G coverage. 4G is just rolling out now at "special prices"
I get 3G through China Unicom most places I travel within China. The caveat is that it tends to drop out a lot, especially when on the move (e.g. on a bus or train). Even though it displays the "3G" logo on my phone, the 3G speed is hardly comparable to what I get with Verizon back in the states, but obviously better than whatever the Edge stuff you can get with China Mobile.
And yeah, wifi is scarce. Wifi at the big chain coffee joints and other places (Starbucks, Costa, etc) will require a song and dance and your local Chinese mobile number. Even then, you gotta hope there's not too many people already on it, as the number of allowed connections is limited....fat chance in China.

And I was wonder, why while in starbucks I have finished my salad and coffee, I was not still able to connect on wifi. there was maybe 20-30 people only. Is that a lot in china ? :D
WiFi in China: What Internet? Fuck It. Or for you sensitive types: What Internet? Forget It.
Wifi is controlled by the illuminati. BEWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE!
