Q: How will Westerners celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival?

Travel? Dinner? Meet Chinese friends?

As i understand from local friends, this day falls on Thursday the 19th. I don't know if this is to be a day off, or what. So i have no plans yet.

icnif77:

I heard yesterday, we'll have off Thursday and Friday for Mid-Autumn holidays. 'MAYBE', she said, or 'don't plan anything yet!'. Public School.

My school have given Thursday and Friday off for the holiday. With Friday classes to be made up on Sunday. So one extra day off, but 3 days off together. I hope to spent it with Chinese friends.

as per hard earned experience. the best way to spend a national event like Mid-Autumn is to either barricade oneself at home or leave the country. the mayhem outside will be like world war 3

Scandinavian:

It seems my fridge has today been filled with mooncakes, so I guess I will have to spend a lot of time eating through those.

See how many windows you can stick them on from your balcony. Aren't you supposed the share them?

I have the craziest problem, unobstructed view from my balcony. The building we live in is not built up to the spec saying that right after the apartments have been sold, something ugly must block the view the owners thought they were buying.

Same here!Work 9 days in a row to get a 3 day weekend.

I would rather not have that "free" day at all, and leave my weekends intact. But, T.I.C.

A staff striptease followed by 'who can eat the most flaming, baiju soaked mooncakes' contest, is something we often never do at my workplace.

Scandinavian:

how is the talent distribution at your school. would it be something positive if all the teachers were suddenly drunk and naked together, I mean, some must fall into the "old wrinkled dudes" category.

I get Thursday, Friday and Saturday off.. then Fridays classes on Sunday. Which obviously screws the weekend up.

Anyway I may travel to Dali for a couple of days.
