I realize this question invites stereotypes and generalizations but what do you guys think? My friends and I were at a bar last night trying to explain dating to a new guy and he asked this question. I find them to be very loyal yet jealous. I'm a fan for sure no offense intended to the ladies back home.

I met women that were so vastly different in China, the nicest most honest woman told me that Chinese women have tempers like fire and I saw her explode on the phone, I saw her get into a fight one night and she was such a tiny thing. I met a unvi teacher, she was so stupid, divorced but like she had no clue about life. Most women seem sweet and friendly when you meet them but some are just mean bitches from the start. Most seem younger in life experience, not knowing how to react rationally or politely (some times)
My GF was strict, charming, kind, never asked for things, pretty enough to me, but she never did what I asked, rarely answered questions, often treated me like the stupid foreigner that I am, didn't usually consider how I felt. She was more worried about what people on the street thought, so much so that when I went home, I simply said ''good-bye'', turned and walked away. I don't call or email her.
unless they have been abroad or around lots of foreigners, your basically dating a teen age girl in a woman's body, it really sux.
xinyuren:
a teenage girl that has been locked in the cellar her whole life. there, i fixed that.
Imbalanced, insensative, self centered, lack of general understanding, or just not wanting too. In most cases it has to be the Chinese way and all to often her way. Now as always the finger is not being pointed at all, I am sure there is and are many sweet ladies out there who will meet half way.
If you own a home, a car, a desirable foreign passport and a fat bank account they will be (or try to be) whatever you want them to be
There are many types of women in China, they can be classified into three big categories:
One category is your typical urban girl, self-centered, money minded, heartless, has very little knowledge of basic things of life, sees the outside world through (racist) stereotypes, looks like she is always high (on drugs) or slow, she wants a sugar daddy to take care of her, spend massive amounts of money on cosmetics (especially whitening creams that don't work anyway) lives in a pink bubble with her candy world in which she is a princess and refuse to see the hard truth of life.
The second category is more down to Earth, there is definitely a growing number of urban youth who are like that, she has a real interest in other people and human relations, she wants to find a nice man and like things such as traveling (as of actual traveling, not 5* hotels doing nothing but going to the beach for a week), learning about other cultures and think that China is "not opened enough",surprisingly she does not spend much money, wears very little cosmetics and dress simply but still looks very attractive, she is definitely more modern and international than the first or third types.
The third category is the farmer freshly arrived in the city, she spits, she talks loudly and stares at foreigners so blatantly that you would notice her above an airplane crashing just 50 meters from you. She has very poor social skills, awful fashion sense (when she has one) and thinks that engaging with foreigners would make her parents ashamed.
They like to control your money or manage your money if you marry to them.
