Q: How would you improve this forum?

I certainly dont have any vesting interest but i like coming here and i think some improvements would make it a lot better. I vote for downticks to cause you to lose points. It might not do much, but it could make people think twice about posting dumb rude answers...including myself. At the very least it would piss some people off.  Also , improved profiles would be cool.  Im curious about a lot of the regulars here and it would be nice to easily know a bit more about the people here. Lastly, not a forum suggestion, but the individual cities could use a dust up and a lot of the info is out dated and not all that useful. Speaking of which, Where are all the xmas articles about stuff to do for the holidays? Ive seen one for Beijing and thats it.

What about a reply link in each comment box? it would improve dialogue if someone could reply to your comment (not answer) and you actually knew about it

the big idea's like chat rooms and prizes come up every year and would be great , but most of us would just like what happy was talking about yesterday and that the site to work properly like spell check and paragraphs and things .more positive rellivent  articals about smaller cities and out the way places to go and see would be good also

More info on stuff to do city wide. Agree with improved profiles.

As for exchanging points, who agrees that flight or train ticket vouchers would be a good add to the list of things you can exchange for. I'm all for saving money on those things!

Samm, Victoria knows she's been reinstated. And her comments on Samsara's post are both appreciative and amusing. Woo hoo!!!!

Down votes to reduce points won't work because we have/had idots that use multi-accounts. I almost want Silva/Matty back, no one to be the blunt of my jokes. Her ban should be over now.

I don't use this much any more, tired of getting warnings and having my posts harmonized.

My profile and my signatures won't stay, funny that Silva always had a dumb one.

I once suggested the elimination of down votes (down-thumbs) as they only serve to create schisms, bun fights, and animosities among posters.

If you like a post, up-thumb it. If you don't like a post, don't up-thumb it.

Hmmm... I plumb forgot about Matty/Silva/Sparky... So, yeah, you've got a point. On the other hand, I still don't see much value to the down thumb,

guess it would kinda defeat the purpose,,,,,,,   but I used to think this place would be more interesting if we could talk about anything we wanted to talk about.....   I mean it doesn't have to have some sort of 'China' anchor to get it recognised as a legit discussion topic....

mArtiAn:

Yeh, I like that one too, just because I live in China doesn't mean I want to talk about it all the time. In fact when I visit this site, it's mostly to forget about the f***ing place altogether when I think about it. Ironic really.

Yeh, i've suggested your last idea about a reply link in your comment box before, it'd help fluency on the site. I think they're worried it'd just become flooded like a chat room if they did that though.

Search doesn't work like it did before. I don't like that comments collapse, some times don't see, but usually they will not open and I can't type now. Delete Messages never did work properly, you have to open a msg and delete each one in the message

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
