Dude, Wuhan is balls. The worst city in China. Total hell. True i was there 2007/08. So it could be marginally better........ But i have refused to go back. Just a dump. Hubei people are famous for being rude farmers. ( relax dudes with wives from Hubei, i know not everyone is and im generalizing. Im sure your wife is great.) The food is pure ass. Its dirty. There is absolutly nothing to do. The expat community is minimal at best. And salaries suck. Any other city......any other city....
Wuhan is the shittiest city in all of China. Please do yourself a favor and... never... go there. Actually, I think Changsha is shittier.
Hubei/Wuhan food is good, however. I liked the food, but I'd never stay in a city for the food. I hate Wuhan so much it makes me want to drink my own urine in fit of rage when I think about it. And you know what? I hate Changsha more than Wuhan.

Lived in Hubei for 2 years (not Wuhan) and backpacked China for 8 month - have to agree that Wuhan is the city that I enjoyed the least.
