Q: Hukou problem. How can we move our in-laws to another province?

Seems like the draconian hukou is causing us no end of trouble. We're trying to find a good place to move the in-laws to, and Hunan province is not a place I ever want to see again. Like ever.

How can we legally move them to another province without causing them trouble?

What kind of trouble?

As far as I can tell, the Hukou can never be changed, but buying a property/finding a job might grant one  a residency certificate of another region. I'm not sure if it concerns relatives nor how it works precisely though.

Your wife should be looking to that, plenty of stuff on the internet.

The city of Zhuhai has a plan of growing by a million people in the next 3-5 years. This must mean they open up for hukou transfers again at some point. Generally Guangdong will loosen the hukou crap soon, but this may be just for moving about inside the province.

The city of Zhuhai was just 3 small fishing villages 30 years ago, it was built on hukou transfers.
