Q: I can use the police to get my FEC back?
I am in the middle of a lawsuit with my employer. I just wanted everyone to know that I was able to successfully get my Foreign Expert Certificate rightfully returned to me by going to the local PSB and complaining that the company was illegally holding it. The company delivered it to me at the police station within 20 minutes of the phone call from the police. We filed a police report and now there is more negative evidence I can take to mediation.
Again, I want to say it is illegal for a company to hold your FEC, so you should ask them during an interview. And remind everyone that you can legally terminate your contract if your employer doesn't provide SOCIAL insurance. Hope this helps others.

I'll sign new Contract at my present School in week or two. I'll open Q about my Social insurance, before signing.
FEC is required for ID together with my passport. I made everybody at my School to be aware of that, and demand FEC is in my hands as soon as it is issued by SAFEA.

Wow very useful, where can we find that whole information about Social insurance? Is that for all provinces? In your case which city?

Social insurance is the same throughout China, and it is one of the few laws they happily enforce. I suspect it's because the social insurance system is dependent on employers to provide the funds to keep it running. Same as social security and medicare/medicaid in the USA.
