Q: I changed my operating system to Windows 10.

And now things aren't as convenient as they were before.  I've probably made a mistake.

Anybody have any experience with, or comments about, Windows 10?

Can it be useful?  If not, can it be killed?

Dude, i reckon you just need to get on the learning curve. You've become set in your ways, like me. The differences are messing with me too but my brain is slowly getting its act together. A couple of my mates have assured me that it isn't necessary to kill myself or throw my laptop off the balcony.

Alternatively, PM cub and get him to hook you up with a Google Computer or Yahoo Computer.

As Safari user, I know only how to terminate Windows:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie10-windows_8/unable-to-ter...

Scott .. BScott .. B replied on June 13, 2013See post history

Go to the HP Support Assistant on your Start screen (Big Question mark) and select "Updates"

"Check for Updates" and then "Check for Updates" again. (Even though it says that none are available).

HP did a BIOS upgrade a few months ago that fixed a lot of these errors in its Pavillion g6/7 line.  But, HP upgrades do not always happen automatically, because they are blocked by high Anti-virus security settings; sometimes you have to run them manually.

After that, Reset Internet Explorer.......

Open Internet Explorer on the Desktop"

Tools

Internet Options

Advanced

Select "Restore Advanced Settings"

Select "Reset"

APPLY

OK

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

angel More on Yahoo-gle search with 'How to terminate Windows 10'surprise

royceH:

Ok, you've given me something to do.  Thanks a lot.

But I think I'll persist for a few days before trying to give it the chop.  So far my main grief is that outlook/hotmail is blocked.  This isn't so uncommon but it can usually be accessed by the next day.  Atm it's still blocked.  I'll see what's happening by the time I get home from work tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks again.

I upgraded my wifes and my computers to win10. Mine was 5 years old and hers 3years old. Both used to run Win7. It is a bit of a learning curve but after a week I was comfortable with. Would I change back, no way. It is a big improvement. Computers run faster, more smoothly and generally just more efficient. Give it a week and see how you go I am sure you will like it once you have got used to the differences.

royceH:

Yeah, ok I will, ta.  But faster....no effin way.  Slower so far.  That could be b/c I'm in Xin.

For sure, it is big improvement . But you have get rid of spying stuff. and be ready to re-set your personalized settings, as prefered pdf program or picture viewer after each major update of system. or at least it was the case for last 1 year i was with w10. it was bit smoother on my old machine, but w7 did it back into my pc 2 weeks ago. some programs won't run properly as before, and bugs here and there forced me to do the decision. now I am playing with thoughts to go back to w10. will see, w10 i have on work machine and let's see how it's work.

get "Destroy Windows 10 Spying (final version).exe" and let it do the work for you, unless you want to talk with Cortana and let she listen all the day to everything until you say" Hey, Cortana, open Video player" What you type, what you say around computer, is being send  to servers ...

Shining_brow:

Yeah, that's what Snowden was basically telling us - that all the big software (and probably hardware) people in the US were putting in doors and measures to send ALL information to the NSA and other related spy agencies over there... and they have so much data that they can't handle it!

And to think - posting a letter is now a far safer option for privacy! :p

Yea, I almost forgot hand-writing, time to try it again :-)

And with reading that Microsoft made some deal with China govt, as before they were banning w10 from chinese official computers, and now is going to "cooperate" ... I belive the coming "updates" may be also "region specific". and we know what that mean in connection with commies :-)

http://news.yahoo.com/microsoft-pulling-plug-internet-explorer-095750264...

Microsoft is ending support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 next week on January 12th, releasing a final patch encouraging users to upgrade to one of the company's more recent browsers. The end of support means that these older versions of Internet Explorer will no longer receive security updates or technical support, making anyone who uses them much more vulnerable to hackers. A recently-announced patch will deliver the last few bug fixes, as well as an "End of Life" notification telling users to upgrade to IE 11 or Microsoft Edge — the company's successor to Internet Explorer, built for Windows 10.

Internet Explorer is dying — long live Microsoft Edge

I'm not sure, I really understand. I believe, Micro will still support latest versions, just patches/fixes will appear not that often. You should upgrade. Most upgrades on Mac/OS X are included, and on Windows you might need to pay some more for upgrades.

I hate Windows 10. It slows everything down. I have no control over when the updates occur, which is usually in the evenings when I am on my computer the most. And, it has just mucked everything up. I am seriously thinking about buying a new computer that has an older version on the computer. As far as I know, there is no way to go back to an original setting once the 30 day trial is over. I HATE WINDOWS 10.

You can use Darik's Boot and Nuke (http://www.dban.org/) to return your HD to its native state then install the operating system of your choice.

If you don't want to perform a clean install, then go here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/downgrading-windows-10-to-7/d691ce68-2a23-4e2a-8f59-64a15724e155
