Q: I give up, how does one get to this new fangled forum anyhow?

At the risk of sounding stupid.

It's the grey box above the answer of the day.
Don't worry it took me forever to figure it out myself.

I found it, but then it wouldn't let me post anything. Good luck.

mattaya:

Same here. I thought they had installed the optical defense mechanisms to blockade incoming replies. Good luck indeed!

Come on guys, it is not that difficult !.

As Dude said, enter the Forum area by left click with mouse on rectangle above Answer of the Day, labeled eChinaForum.

once that page opens, you will see current topics discussed.  To rwad or reply just click on the one you fancy.

If you want to create a new topic (or post), look on top, under search, for a rectangle labeled New Topic, click on it and a new page opens and there you do the writing of whatever you wish to post.

crimochina:

i think it is supposed to be a way for us to post discussion threads especially with regards to issues of a sensitive nature. but it does not get the viewership so it is no fun at all

I thought it was for stuff not related to China, but honestly I'm not really sure and I'm kind of afraid to use it. Are we even allowed to ask questions or do we have to frame inquiries in the form of answers like on jeopardy?

HugAPanda:

It's supposed to be used for topics not related to China and jokes and stuff. Maybe it could even be used for the guy who wants a gf from Wuhan.

As thedude said, you gain access to it by clicking on the icon right above the answer of the day.

There's an inconvenient 'bug' right now that won't allow anyone to post. We'll have this fixed within the hour.

As for content, HugAPanda has it right, it's a place for you guys to post funny links, share jokes, talk about non-China related stuff, etc.. But no, Crimino, not politically sensitive issues.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
