Q: I have a question towards getting better education qualification

I only have a diploma showed a 3 years college majored in business English.

I plan on finding a job work as an international sales manager/account manager/marketing manager.

I think I'd better getting a higher degree to further my career. Any advice of what kind of degree I should apply for?

A wechat friend works on the education sector recommend me to study the courses from some American university and get a degree from it. She said the online degree would be just the same from the one people got from studying on their campus. What do you think?

Or get an MBA degree in Chinese university?

I wish I can make myself look good for the international job market and plan on some really big position in the future.

But I might just run my own firm instead, which I am not sure as now my own business is growing quite slow. So I am trying to make option open. And maybe some good studies could also help me as an entrepreneur.

any qualification from a Chinese university is essentially worthless outside of china.

the best course for you is to know your budget when it comes to your education.

if you want the best, you have to be prepared to invest a lot of money.

unless the online course is internationally accredited, it is essentially worthless, especially the ones available in China.

but you seriously have to sit down yourself and work out exaclty what you want to do - be self-employed or work for a company.

until you determine your goal - something you have to do yourself, determine your budget for your education, you will then be able to see the options that suit you the most.

you want the best?

Harvard Business School or LSE.

are they right for you?

only you know the answer to that

you can not expect people on the internet to make your life-choices for you.

good luck

There's a big difference between asking people to make decision for me and asking people for advices.

So why are you keeping saying that?

Viki,

your questions are constantly "which do think is better, X or Y?"

these are clearly life/career decisions you are trying to make so it looks like you are avoiding examining your options yourself  and taking responsibility for your own decisions.

My advice is that you sit down yourself and work out exactly what you want to do - be self-employed or work for a company.

no one can tell you which option is better for you - only you can figure that out on your own. until you determine your goal - something you have to do yourself, determine your budget for your education, you will then be able to see the options that suit you the most.

once you have a clear knowledge what your career goals are, then you can benefit more from other people's experience.

being vague or unsure about your own career goals will only prolong your decision.

by procrastinating about doing this work yourself, you are just postponing any decision and will lead to more frustration in your life.

I advise setting yourself 6 month, 12 month and 3 year goals and then writing out the small achievable steps you need to achieve these. You say you are a Manager - then use the SMART acroynm steps any good manager uses.

And you know what?

no-one else can do this for you because it is your life and your responsibility.

I never asked for decision. I just asked for advices. I corrected people's advices and form my own decision.

i will make this easy for you by using an analogy.

Viki: what string should i use?

Blondie:

What exactly do you need the string for? How much do you need? How much are you willing to pay for the string? Do you want Chinese string, which is not very good, or non-Chinese string? What string have you already found? What is your opinion of the string you found? When you have a less vague question, then people will be able to help you with the best string for you with clearer advice and not have to ask more questions.

Viki: what string should i use?

My advice to you is be more precise about what you want.

Vague questions lead to more questions.

as i always say to students, if you are making an important decision that will impact on your life, at least show you have done some thought and planning first before asking questions and expecting me to do all the work.

Possible question that would have more precise answers/advice that would be more helpful for you.

"I want to find a course to study X, my budget is about Y rmb, and i want to study online. What are my options? I have looked already and found Z, do you know of any more?"

tbh, if you manage a team like you ask questions here ........ angry

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
