the best way to get a dentist in china, go to the biggest dental hospital in a major city, they will put the best to take care of you "the foreigner", loss of face for bad job, charge him extra kind of deal. but, a big butt, bring a chinese friend with you, and you will find the best likes to make extra money and since he is the boss he or she has some latitude, and lo and behold he or she has a dental clinic that they own and run on weekends and at night after work where you can have them do the work for half the price the hospital charges. the best dentists are the simple never been married female dentists in the 40's still hoping for a husband, be the nice smiling foreigner and give them some attention, i got a 1700 rmb titanium root canal done for 800 this way. in fact she got the cap made at the hospital lab for free and of course charge me for a free item. all good, 5 years no problem with the tooth. im pretty sure she actually got 700 and my chinese translator made a 100 from her for getting the deal done, but im not supposed to know how chinese "do business".

Don't know about getting veneers, I thought that only referred to some kind of fine wood finish, in which case you might be better off seeking out a carpenter than a dentist, but I have had to get a cap fitted on one of my molars. It came off every time I ate a toffee. After changing dentists a couple of times I came upon the solution myself, I stopped eating toffees.

Ouch !  Dental work here is reasonably priced and, in my experience at least there are very professional and competent dentists available.

Of course, there are probably some awful ones out there too. Ask people where you live, I'm sure you'll find a decent one.

well, you are in for an experience, hope you find a good dentist. I have had both here, one I would recommend to anybody, and one who was some kind of imposter I guess.  The imposter put a cap on one of my teeth, it came off in about 2 weeks.  What was more interesting though was the way he started working on me with NO painkiller, that'll get your attention I can assure you! Then when I helped him to understand that he was going to Have to use painkiller he gave me a couple of injections (no topical) with one of those SS syringes that look left over from the 1950's.  Ouch with a Capital O.  The guy always makes me think of Marathon Man.

Many in China would opt for just having the teeth pulled instead of fixed. Get used to your new smile.

There are some good dentists out there. In Zhuhai, the place touted by the locals as the best in town.... well, they told me that fixing a cracked molar was impossible, even though I was able to point at a tooth on the other side of my mouth that was fixed in exactly the way I was asking for. The woman said it would not be possible and it wouldn't last and my other tooth would soon break. That other tooth was fixed about 10 years ago and my back home dentist does admit it will need a do-over but probably not in any near decades.

Sadly Chinese dentists look to the US for how to do stuff. Cheap caps on every small little problem instead of protecting what is already there and fixing issues. This is really all Hollywoods fault.

Now if you are in Shenzhen, PM me and I'll take you to the best place Ive been using for years. If I were you Id get the best, in Shenzhen it would cost 20,000 to 30,000 for implant teeth, the tooth looks real, they'll dye the color to match your current teeth.. It will look like you never lost them

blellow:

30,000 for one tooth!?!?!? That's insanely expensive. That's a little less than 5,000 USD. That's can't be right.

Wow! Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like I need to ask around for one of top dentists in Beijing. Beijingers, know a guy?

Ok story time. I'm riding on the back of bf's scooter, and we hit a bump. I fall on my side and my front teeth nail the pavement. It didn't hurt somehow (again, I swear I wasn't drunk!) but I have a triangle shaped chip between my two front teeth now.

Any recommended Beijing dentists?

im on my way back to China next month to go the dentist
i can fly my whole family over and get my teeth fixed cheaper than getting the work done in Australia
and there is nothing dodgy about the dentist i use in China
saves me thousands in health insurance in Australia and i get a holiday too
maybe i should start a dental tour service

ambivalentmace:

yes, when i had a company with drivers, i sent them all to the washington dental clinic in juarez mexico, across from el paso for dental work instead of dental insurance for about 10 dollars a week that would only pay half, it was a much better option, for some reason my drivers loved mexican mammary glands all over their chest while getting their teeth cleaned for 20 dollars.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
