so why are there only 10 on this site

You have to remember half those teachers are probably not from a native english speaking country and another huge percentage has never gone to college. It happens! Out of 100 teachers you'd be lucky to find 20 good teachers who actually went to some type of school.
dharma86:
So you're saying a teacher can't be 'good' unless they are a native speaker or have a college degree?
There are plenty of brain dead native speaking morons around too.
crimochina:
this guy is a wumao trying to make foreigners out to be uneducated morons. i'm surprised he is still using this account

im sure you will find people with bad English teaching in china, but you have only one person to blame, a stupid money hungry boss who only cares about a passport or a white face. so before you judge teachers point the finger at the idiot who gave them the job, never in my life (before i came to china) have i seen a person getting a job so quickly based on the fact they have a passport
A lot of people aren't techy, they don't regularly surf the internet and are not 'in the know' about a site such as this.
It's not necessarily a bad thing, I don't know how many hours I've wasted on the internet...
I would guess the number to be well over 100k. I taught for a year myself and during that time I don't think I made more than one or two visits to websites like this. Why read about these experiences when you can walk out your front door and live them? Also, a lot of the topics discussed are very cliche (just how much do chinese girls like white guys, just how rude are the chinese people), and I find a lot of useless generalizations are made. Some of the top users are pretentious losers imo. I mostly just come for the job ads.
crimochina:
we are losers but you read what we write. and you post here just the same. so what does that make you?
Traveler:
Apparently I can only give one thumbs down. Admin needs to work on that for particularly stupid comments.
I come here to share my China experience with others, take it off my chest, ask for advice, & maybe make friends if it is meant to be. Does it make me a loser?
Hulk:
Nope. Just a bunch of unhappy dookers (see: hozen) who can only feel better by taking their anger out on everyone else.
I counted 20 but who's counting anyways?? Oh yeah that would be me and now you!! Want to make a bet? Closest one to the correct answer wins!
I often read that there are, for example, 10 users and 360 guests online at eChinacities at any given time. It seems that a lot of people come here to read, but not participate. I am guessing that many of those visitors are also teachers. Far more than 10, 20 or 23.
I also think that many of the users don't contribute on a daily basis, maybe only weekly, monthly or less often. While most of the regular contributors make meaningful contributions, it would be good if a few of the users that contribute nonsense would contribute less often in future. Much less often. Maybe then there would be more regular contibutors.
Because the rest of them are out getting drunk. Never met so many heavy drinkers in my life.
Well I think the majority of you have been rather helpful. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all once I am out there.
